Reflections, Realities and Results for Youth in Greater NH

Join with stakeholders interested in the welfare and future of youth in Greater New Haven for a buffet dinner, exciting conversation and community celebration.

Since 1976, we have worked in coalition to build a community in which youth can succeed.  Although there are now 45 nationally, New Haven was one of the first BEST* sites in the country, receiving implementation funding from the Wallace Fund, Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and CT Dept. of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

Come celebrate our community's accomplishments and help build upon this strong commitment to youth success.

This special evening is a unique opportunity for conversation with two national leaders in youth work.  Elaine Johnson, Senior Fellow for Youth Development Affairs at the Academy of Educational Development in Washington D.C. and former National BEST Initiative Director and Wendy Wheeler, President of the Innovation Center for Youth and Community Development in Washington DC.  Ms. Johnson and Ms. Wheeler will consult with us on how to build on the amazing achievements by youth leaders, youth workers and committed funders in Greater New Haven, answering the key question, what are our next steps as we advance the youth development agenda in this region?

We will also take this opportunity to thank major stakeholders and to especially honor and celebrate the leadership of Kaye Harvey, a founder of Citywide Youth Coalition and champion of youth.

Hosted by:
Citywide Youth Coalition, Inc. with generous support from Youth Development Training and Resource Center, The Consultation Center, Inc., Connecticut Afterschool Network, Inc., Bill Graustein, William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund and the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

The National Building Exemplary Systems for Training Youth Workers (BEST) Initiative provides a delivery strategy for the Advancing Youth Development curriculum.  This initiative provides technical assistance, training and networking to community-based systems, i.e., BEST Sites, as they work to strengthen their capacity to train youth workers in the concepts of youth development.
