Borders book launch for Kartoon Kings

Join us for the launch of Kartoon Kings: The Graphic Work of Simon Grennan and Christopher Sperandio at BORDERS in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, November 28 from 6 PM to 8 PM, followed by drinks at Kelly's Bar.

Join us for an informal discussion between Christopher Sperandio and Heather Pesanti, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at Carnegie Museum of Art. Light refreshments will be served. That evening only, copies of Kartoon Kings will be discounted 20%, limit two per customer. Also that evening, Jennifer Gooch with special guest John Carson will play music and sing. Kartoon Kings: The Graphic Work of Simon Grennan and Christopher Sperandio, edited by Paul Krainak and new from WVU Press, is the first monograph and comprehensive analysis of the graphic artwork of Simon Grennan and Christopher Sperandio. In addition to full-color images excerpted from comic book projects, video, billboards, and other of the artists' collaborative public art media created over the past fifteen years, the book contains essays by Joshua Decter and Paul Krainak and an interview with Grennan and Sperandio conducted by Kristina Olson.

Simon Grennan was born in London, England, and studied sculpture at Reading University and at the University of Illinois, Chicago, where he met Christopher Sperandio, a Kingwood, West Virginia native, who studied printmaking at West Virginia University and painting at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Sperandio is currently a Visiting Professor of Art in the School of Art at Carnegie Mellon University.
