Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center to host first annual Encanto Flamenco Festival

 The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center (GCAC) will host the first annual Encanto Flamenco Dance Festival October 11 - 14, 2007 at the Guadalupe Theater in San Antonio, Texas. Workshops, a panel discussion, and lecture demonstration are all included in the line up of Festival activities. Visiting guest artists inlcude Omayra Amaya, grand-niece of the legendary Carmen Amaya and Joaquin Encinias of the National Conservatory of Flamenco Dance in Albuquerque, NM.

The GCAC is committed to offering the best of flamenco dance and culture through the Encanto Flamenco Festival. The hope is that this festival will help bridge the gap between emerging dancers, local performers and world renowned choreographers by making quality flamenco dance instruction accessible for dancers, musicians and dance lovers alike.

The workshop includes a total of 12 class hours of Flamenco dance Thursday - Sunday, October 11 - 14 held at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center Campus. A special school presentation will be held on Friday, October 12 at the Guadalupe Theater by reservation only. Community Field Forum will be held at the Guadalupe School and Galeria on Saturday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m. For school reservations please call 210.271.3151 ext. 41.
