The 3rd Annual Northern Virginia Antiques & Modernism Show & Sale

The much anticipated return of the 3rd Annual Antiques & Modernism Show and Sale will certainly entice devoted collectors of 17th-19th century antiques, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern items, to venture to the Thomas Jefferson Community Center in Arlington, Va., on June 20-21.
Hours are: Saturday, 10am – 6pm and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
“This show is unique in this area of the country,” said Arthur Farbenbloom of Pappabello Management, based in Silver Spring, Md., who along with the Arlington Kiwanis and the Art Deco Society of Washington (ADSW) presents this popular event.
At least 150 exhibitors from 15 states, Canada and France – with 100 general antiques dealers – will offer for sale: formal and country furniture, silver, crystal, quilts, oriental rugs, Meissen, KPM, art glass, bronzes, watches, ceramics, prints, paintings, jewelry, Antiquarian books, Bakelite, chrome, clocks, Heywood Wakefield, Herman Miller, Blenko and Higgins glass, posters, barware, kitchenware, vintage fashions, ephemera and much more!
Over 40 exhibitors will showcase Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Mid-Century Modern art, as well as vintage clothing dealers and a large section of Modernism dealers.
Other highlights at the show include:
q Live jazz: Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
q Paul Nulton: Glass Repair Service
q Hidden Treasures: Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Sarah McCullom, a personal property appraiser with Hidden Treasure Appraisals, will be at the show to provide professional opinions on items presented. While McCullom will not be able to actually provide an appraisal, (those require research and time) she can provide information on the pieces presented to her. There is no charge for this service.
q Peenstra Antique Appraisals: Todd Peenstra, a personal property appraiser will offer opinions on items presented, both days of the show.
q Art Deco Society of Washington: Art Deco display booth and presentation
q New this year is catering by la Madeleine Country French Café offering fresh-baked pastries and bread, with signature French country-inspired cuisine.
q An ATM and an improved sound system for music.

The Art Deco Society of Washington presented “Exposition of the Decorative Arts” for 23 years until it merged in 2007 with Pappabello Shows and the Arlington Kiwanis and combined their shows.
The first collaboration was “a rousing success – the crowds tripled, and our Art Deco and Mid-Century dealers brought room-size displays and streamlined merchandise to light up and energize a general antiques show,” says Ira Raskin, treasurer of the ADSW.
The ADSW and the Kiwanis will benefit directly from funds raised by this show. Proceeds support the preservation and educational programs of the ADSW and community projects of the Kiwanis.

Stop by the 3rd Annual Antiques & Modernism Show and Sale at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center, Arlington, Va., two blocks south of US 50 at Glebe Road and Second Street at 2501 2nd Street South, Arlington, VA 22204.
Parking is free and a shuttle bus will operate from the Virginia Square Orange Line Metro on Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is $8. Show hours are 10 am-6 pm on Saturday, June 20 and 11 am – 5 pm on Sunday, June 21.  For more information contact Pappabello Shows Inc., Arthur Farbenbloom at 240-295-1307 or visit
