Focusing on Direct Mail and Year-End Appeals, this session shows you the basics of starting and administering an annual giving program, with insider tips on how to get the most from your mail campaigns.

Whether you do a single year-end mailing, or use direct mail appeals throughout the year, this interactive course will show you ways to grab donors’ attention and get them to read beyond the first line. This session will teach you how to be strategic about your appeal and how write your story in a way that will get results.  You will learn how to upgrade donors and how to create appealing reply devices. You’ll also learn ways to strengthen your relationship with your donors through your mailings so that they continue to give year after year.

Deborah Baker has had more than 23 years of experience in raising money for non-profits. From this, she has developed an informed and perceptive talent for getting donors to give.  The principal and founder of DSNE, Deb works with clients to build complete and integrated development programs, including direct mail, major gifts and foundation fundraising. In this course, Deb takes her experience in raising millions of dollars in gifts from individuals and shares her insight into the donor’s mind. She is joined by Mary Harris, a communications professional who specializes in writing compelling messages and crafting strong stories. A direct mail fulfillment specialist will add additional perspective to the session.
