Quaver viol consort, a new viola da gamba quartet committed to performing eclectic and groundbreaking music, will present a concert as part of the Boston Early Music Festival Fringe series on Tues., June 9th at 1pm at the Goethe-Institut in Boston.

Quaver offers an exciting blend of modern musical sensibility with virtuosity on the viola da gamba, a Renaissance stringed instrument. Tuesday’s program features the sublime music of Renaissance Italy and England as well as new arrangements for viol consort of music by Sheryl Crow, Vampire Weekend, Giuseppe Verdi, Shostakovich, Ratatat and others.

The concert will take place at 1pm on Tuesday, June 9th at the Goethe-Institut Boston, 170 Beacon Street, Boston, MA 02116. Tickets are $12/$8 student and seniors and can be reserved by contacting quaverviols@gmail.com.

Quaver’s members hail from across the US and are among the finest of the younger generation of American viol players, performing with such groups as the Oberlin and New York Consorts of viols, The Smithsonian Chamber Players, Hesperus, and other top period instrument ensembles.
