This conference will focus on women’s health issues. Featured topics will include common psychiatric disorders in women with comorbid medical conditions, the impact of trauma on women’s health, and a review of the rational use of hormonal and nutritional therapies in addressing women’s health issues.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
*review the most common medical comorbidities in female patients with psychiatric illness and provide appropriate medical care or make appropriate referral.
*describe the role of thyroid and reproductive hormones in depression and determine whether referral should be made for further evaluation when hormone related issues are suspected in patients with depression.
*recognize the signs and symptoms of both historical and ongoing trauma/abuse in female patients and explain how to assist patient through appropriate referrals and other interventions.
