Mr. Hardy will  focus the day's discussion and learning toward common as well as potentially interesting specific concerns.

Come prepared to PITCH your project at any time during the day!

For the two who receive the personal consulting, this is a $500 value for each, though we suspect you will find it invaluable! Act quickly to take advantage of this limited time offer.

The "NW Film Financing” workshop has been crafted to provide the essential info you need to know to communicate the investment value your independent film project.

The Oregon Media Production Association, (OMPA) in collaboration with Oregon Producer's Alliance, (OPA) invites you to attend the first in a series of film business planning and business execution workshops designed specifically for the Pacific Northwest’s independent filmmaking community.

This workshop will have two instructor- led morning sessions and two panel discussions in the afternoon. The day promises to pack tremendous learning opportunity - please join us!

Jeffrey Hardy, (bio) president of FilmProfit LLC (www.filmprofit.com), will navigate the highlights, the lowlights, the crucial pitfall decisions independent filmmakers encounter when faced with financing their independent productions. He will help you as he deconstructs the answers to the following questions:

• What do investors look for?
• How do filmmakers convince investors their project is a viable investment?
• Can you learn to "run-through the numbers" on a film project from start to finish?

Mr. Hardy will clarify what a strong producer has to provide in order to secure financing.

During the afternoon sessions, Mr. Hardy will act as panel moderator. All of our guest speakers bring a wealth of real world experience and insight to the table. These panels will examine independent filmmaking from perspectives that share similarities as well as divergences.

We’ll begin with a discussion of the creative process followed by an exploration of the legal process.

Beth Harrington is a Grammy® and Emmy® nominated independent producer, director and writer creating programming for television, radio and educational use for over thirty years.   She brings us stories steeped in American culture and history. Her documentary films include; Welcome to the Club – The Women of Rockabilly, an exploration of the pioneering women of rock and roll, Searching for York, the little known story of an enslaved man who served as a valued member of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, Beervana, a celebratory history of Oregon beer culture, and her critically acclaimed autobiographical documentary, The Blinking Madonna and Other Miracles.

Beth is currently in post-production working on The Winding Stream, the story of the Original Carter Family, a unique visionary blend of musical legacy, music history and on stage performance.   This film features members of the Carter and Cash families, including an interview with the legendary Johnny Cash.

Neil Kopp

Born and raised in Portland, OR, Neil attended the Vancouver Film School in British Columbia. After graduation he spent the next five years working on commercials and music videos. Nominated for several Spirit Awards since 2007, Neil won the Producers Award for Old Joy and Paranoid Park in 2008.

Currently, Neil is in post-production working on the debut feature film from Matt McCormick, featuring James Mercer from The Shins and Carrie Brownstein from Sleater Kinney, as well as working in parallel pre-production on several new films.

Rebecca Rodriguez is a self-taught emerging talent on the American film scene. Armed with determination and a little experience in professional acting, Rodriguez followed the shifting of her creativity into writing and directing. In 2000, her short film Soul Collectors, a dark comedy that takes a fresh look at death and the after-life, premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival. She followed with the short film Floater, a voyeuristic journey into the bathroom as the bodily functions of a young couple threaten the mood of love. This then led to an option deal for both films with Hypnotic.com, a premiere online site for short films. Floater was also selected by Hypnotic.com as one of twenty-five films to compete for $1MM feature film budget.

Besides numerous other shorts and music videos, Rodriguez completed her first feature length film Coming Up Easy and continues her work on various other film projects from her home office on planet earth.
