Hysterica Dance Co. Presents: "Rapture"

Hysterica Dance Co. and The Open Fist Theatre are proud to present the premiere of rapture – an evening of energized, romantic and dark new works exploring the seemingly simple and poignant rapture of living and the unquenchable desire to persevere. In a departure from her recent format of  evening-length dances, Artistic Director Kitty McNamee’s half evening length “rapture” experiments with smaller, interrelated dances and is paired with a second act of short works by McNamee and Hysterica members Ryan Heffington, Mecca Andrews and Nina McNeely. The pieces range from hyper-fueled group works to smaller, more intimate character-driven dances.  The contrast is reflected in the eclectic score, which ranges from pop to electronica to Mahler to Dolly Parton.

Hysterica Dance Co. has performed extensively in the Southland and nationally at the Joyce Soho, the Manhattan School of Music, d.u.m.b.o. dance festival and WHITE WAVE Performance Space in New York, and at Helm’s Fine Arts Center in Austin, TX. California performances include the REDCAT, James Armstrong Theater, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Ford Amphitheatre, Highways Performance Space, Sushi Performance and Visual Art Gallery in San Diego, Cal State Northridge and the Choreography Under the Stars Festival in Palm Springs.
