Session 1--Feb. 3, 2009, 6-7:30 pm
Media Relations: The New Basics

Exploding new social media options and their reach to new audiences along with changing traditional media newsrooms and audiences require a new approach to PR. Or do they?  Our panel will examine the tools at your disposal—is the press release dead?—tips for choosing the right ones for the job, and explain how to work them into an effective overall media strategy with the resources you have.

Session 2--Feb. 10, 6-7:30 pm
Crisis Communications: More than They Know

Whether it’s layoffs, a natural disaster, an operational breakdown or other news that puts your reputation at risk, managing crisis communications is much more than crafting the message and communicating to stakeholders and the media. For agency and organizational practitioners alike, it’s preparing your client or colleagues with the right internal planning, asking the right questions, maintaining the right external relationships and ensuring the right people know their roles with the know-how to recognize and act immediately in a potential crisis situation.

Session 3--Feb. 17, 6-7:30 pm
Behind the Curtain: Successful Events with Measurable Impact

From special events to press conferences, planning and managing events to maximum attendance, PR value and goal attainment is critical to the effective PR role. Hear the experts cover the A to Z: avoiding a creative-for-the-sake-of-creative concept that preaches to the choir; covering the logistics; and ensuring goal-oriented attendance and maximum exposure through effective follow-up and technology.

Session 4--Feb. 24, 6-7:30 pm
PR Measurement: Beyond First Impressions

Media impressions remain a PR measurement standard, but social media and new approaches to message-driven measurement offer new challenges, considerations and options for defining PR expectations and ROI. “The customer is not the click,” and our panel will examine bottom-line measurement that matters.
