Future events at The Watermill Center.

Please join us for at The Bridge for a site-specific performance by Shakespeare's Wild Sisters in collaboration with Watermill Summer Program participants.

Shakespeare's Wild Sisters, an emerging avant-garde performance group from Taiwan, will create a site-specific outdoor performance at the clubhouse of The Bridge golf course in Bridgehampton. The performance will last approximately one hour, followed by an informal reception sponsored by Bob Rubin and Stephane Samuel.

Plastic Holes
will feature ten members of the Shakespeare's Wild Sisters group and ten artists participating in the Watermill Summer Program. Based on three poems by Nobel laureate Wislawa Szymborska, the work combines theater, dance and poetry in an exploration of cross-cultural communication. The performance will take place outdoors, against the circular retaining wall of The Bridge's clubhouse, for which architect Roger Ferris has garnered numerous awards. The audience will be surrounded by the breathtaking, panoramic views of the bay that comprise The Bridge's landscape.

Shakespeare's Wild Sisters was founded in 1995. The group's name is borrowed from Virginia Woolf's seminal novel A Room of One's Own. SWS incorporate themes and stories from modern literature, as well as addressing contemporary societal issues. The company's performers and designers use movement, music, imaginative lighting, and costume to create a truly innovative theatrical experience. SWS stage two major productions annually and are regularly invited to theatre festivals around the world. In 2002, their production of Zodiac II was nominated for a Taishin Arts Award.
