UCP Kids Workshop: Good Friends are Hard to Find

UCP Kids is pleased to partner with the North Hills Youth Ministry Counseling Center to present their enormously popular and renowned workshop, Good Friends are Hard to Find, featuring speaker Lisa DeCarolis.

Without a doubt, good friends are hard to find.  And for children with disabilities, the challenge can prove even more daunting.  This workshop will explore ways that family members, classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and anyone working with and for children with disabilities age 5 to 12 can help them increase interactions with their peers and strengthen their social skills.  Topics include:

<    Starting and maintaining conversations

<    How to join others at play

<    How to make a play date

<    Good sportsmanship

<    Dealing with teasing and bullying

Attendees will have the opportunity to share real-world challenges and brainstorm effective strategies.  Come prepared with questions specific to a child you care about.

Important Information: Registered individuals who do not cancel prior to the deadline of OCTOBER 13 and who fail to attend the event will NOT be given a refund, as workshop logistics are based on attendance numbers on the date of the registration deadline.

Act 48 and Social Work credits offered for an additional processing fee of $5.00 each, payable at the event.

This program is offered for 3 hours of social work continuing education through co-sponsorship of the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work, a Council on Social Work Education-accredited school and, therefore, a PA pre-approved provider of social work continuing education.  These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW/LCSW, LPC and LMFT renewal. For information on social work continuing education, call 412-624-3711.
