New Life Children's Center

New Life Children's Center is a ministry of Lutheran Social Services of the South [LSSS].  Located in Canyon Lake, Texas, the mission helps girls ages 11 - 17 recover from trouble pasts and bring focus to their lives.  New Life residents are girls with special and unique challenges.  They may have a history of physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse and neglect.

The center's treatment team evaluates and addresses the emotional, physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of each child.  A variety of therapeutic groups and activities are utilized to meet the needs of the residents.  The girls at New Life are also given the opportunity to grow spiritually. If they choose, they may attend Bible studies and worship services led by volunteers.

In addition to its residential treatment programs, Lutheran Social Services also provides foster care and adoption services.  LSS works with the children as they move toward reunification with their families, less restrictive foster care placements or adoption.

Donations will also be collected for the girls of New Life.  If you're interested in bringing items for the center, please reference the list of requested items, below:

  • journals  (no spirals or metal)
  • stretchy bracelets  (no metal)
  • colorful rugs for rooms
  • candy bars
  • 8-pack of 12-oz soft drinks (Coke, Sprite, or Dr. Pepper); (plastic bottles only -- carried at Walmart & Target)

Educational Presentation

This is an educational workshop for people who want to learn how being a steward of their time, talents and treasures can provide a powerful gift to their congregation and other charitable organizations they care about.

Participants will learn more about:

  • Charitable giving financial tools that may decrease their taxes and/or supplement their retirement income.
  • Ways to leave a charitable legacy that will continue to make a positive difference far into the future.
  • Opportunities to give back in other ways, such as volunteering.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have identified values that are important to them and organizations that reflect those values, making it easier to develop a charitable giving strategy.
