The Dallas Zoo

The Dallas Zoo was founded in 1888, making it the first zoological park in the Southwest. Covering 95 developed acres, its landmass makes it the largest zoo in Texas! Add thousands of animals to visit and a huge variety of family activities, and you’ll have an exciting adventure with opportunities to learn about interesting wildlife, engage in interactive fun, and support worldwide conservation and research to protect and preserve endangered species.

The Dallas Zoo is widely recognized for our outstanding Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo, Wilds of Africa exhibit, and award-winning Jake L. Hamon Gorilla Conservation Research Center!

Event Details

  • The zoo will be open from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM Central Time.
  • Check in at the event table from 9:00 – 10:30 AM or 12:30 - 2:00 PM to receive your group wristband, ticket & a gift. [Look for the Thrivent canopy! Hint, hint: leave your hats at home...we've got you covered!]
  • Tickets are limited, and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note how many of each you would like:

o Infant (0 -- 2 years)

o Child (2 -- 11 years)

o Adult (12 -- 64 years)

o Senior (65+ years)

Walk the Nature Trail through the Wilds of Africa exhibit, ride the Monorail, immerse yourself in a vast array of animal exhibits, or visit Gypsy, the zoo's new African elephant. Relax with other Thrivent Financial members in the shade of Cat Green, a covered pavilion amid the wild cats, birds of prey and Galápagos tortoises – it’s reserved all day for private access by our members!

Let the kids release excess energy at the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo as they interact with petting zoo animals, go for a pony ride, or feed the birds at the Travis & Zach's Birds Landing.

More information about the zoo is available at the Dallas Zoo website.

Members can delve into a FREE catered Classic American buffet luncheon from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM at Zoofari Food Court. Drinks and snacks are also available for purchase throughout the park.

Strollers, wheelchairs, lockers, and Zoo Ranger™ personal tour devices available for an additional fee.

Explore the interactive park map and start planning your day!

  • Parking is available at the zoo for $5/car (free for Dallas Zoological Society members), or
  • Access the Zoo by DART Rail (Red Line, Dallas Zoo Station)
