Pitch Your Story to the Media Workshop, Edmonton, AB

Pitching your story idea directly to reporters is the single best way to ensure media coverage. It is also the most challenging approach for those unprepared for every possible response. This workshop provides a step-by-step guide on how to successfully develop story pitches that you can deliver over the phone to busy reporters or editors or by email so you can follow up with a warm call instead of a cold one. You will be amazed how successful your efforts will be with a little planning and preparation! You’ll also learn how to pitch your story ideas to online journalists and bloggers which is altogether different than you might think.

You'll learn to:

  • Uncover the story ideas already within your organization
  • Develop key messages for your stories
  • Provide context for your story the media will appreciate
  • Determine the best reporters, editors or bloggers to pitch your story
  • Pitch your story idea to print or broadcast reporters over the phone with confidence in 30 seconds
  • Write an email pitch that will stand out from the rest
  • Create an offline and online media kit that will seal your success
  • Ensure a ”no” on the story from one reporter or blogger will result in “yes” from another
  • and much more…
