Pennsylvania State Conference NAACP 76th State Convention

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

2010 Pennsylvania NAACP State Annual Convention

Dear PA State NAACP Youth & College Family,

We, the Pennsylvania State Youth & College Division of the NAACP, welcome you to 2010 Annual October Convention this October 22nd thru October 24th, 2010 at the Doubletree Pittsburgh/Monroeville Convention Center in Monroeville.  Our theme for this convention is Going Back-to-Basics” which speaks to the need for us as Youth Council and College Chapter members to go back to the roots of this BIG and BOLD Organization! So that we will know where we came from, and where we are going! We believe such focus will allow us to have meaningful action this 2010-2011 school year, and spread enthusiasm throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

We are proud to announce that this convention will be jam packed with youth-driven workshops from your fellow NAACP peers and supplemented with dynamic speakers that will serve as long-term contacts in your efforts to build up unit capacity. We will enlighten and empower you by touching all 5 Initiatives of the Youth and College Division which are Health, Education, Economic Development, Civic Engagement and Juvenile Justice. You will also learn about new National Initiatives such as 100 Remix Campaign, 10.2.10 March After-math Activities and many more cutting edge activities that both nationals and the state have to offer you. Yet, most importantly you will also learn what it means to be a NAACP chapter, how to function and stay in compliance from year-to-year.

Due to this being the annual convention and based on the nature of the training that will be facilitated, it is MANDATORY that all chapters send at least two Executive Officers and one General Member from their youth council/college chapter to this convention. Please note your attendance is vital to your local organization’s receiving pertinent information that will allow the chapter to function at its maximum potential and stay in compliance.   We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Convention!
