Swing on the green for a purpose at the 13th Annual Celebrity Charity Tournament of Players hosted by the Metro Atlanta Chapter National Football League Players Association.

(October 26, 2009 -Atlanta, Georgia)  All roads will lead to the Northwood Country Club located at 3157 Club Drive Lawrenceville, GA 30044 on Monday November 9th, 2009 at 10:00AM.  Golf teams will join forces along with the Metro Atlanta NFLPA for their annual fundraiser golf tournament.  This exceptional event will enable the association to increase its annual financial support to their Youth Scholarship Program and the many local charities, and nonprofit organizations that they have worked with over the past several years.
The NFLPA has helped other organizations raise funds by its members volunteering their time for sports tournaments, public appearances, and telethons. This year the event is being played on one of the finest golf courses in the Metro Atlanta area. The tournament will be a quality, someday, 18 hole, five (5) player team scramble, best ball format with golfers playing on teams captained by a former or active professional athlete. Registration will kick off at 10:00AM followed by Driving Range & Putting and the tournament will begin at the sound of the 11:00AM Shotgun Start. The event will end with a Celebrity/Sponsor Awards presentation at 5:00PM.
In 1995, the NFLPA established a youth scholarship program, which was designed to provide a high school graduate who did not receive an athletic scholarship to attend college.   Any high school student (except children of NFLPA members) actively involved in athletics who maintains a 2.0 academic average with plans of attending college is eligible.   In 2009 the NFLPA scholarship program awarded two scholarships to deserving students in the Metro Atlanta male recipient Josh Autrey of Thomas County Central High School and female recipient Khali Jones of Carver High School.
