Small Business Development/Networking

  • Access Florida Finance (Biz Plan Contest) Entrepreneurs/Small business owners may submit a business plan and earn an opportunity for $2500, $1500, or $1000 in cash along with statewide exposure for your business* (inquire for details and qualifications).  Your price to enter: Time and planning.
  • Network with city-wide service providers all in one location, no running around.  You could put a business plan together on location (bring your information with you).
  • Learn how to become a part of the social entrepreneurship network and get both free and instant marketing for your business.  Limited slots available.
  • Plan to meet at least one future business partner such as a local small business owner, Blue Cross Blue Shield, CSX, and/or Jaxport. 
  • Learn more about the community and business contributions of great companies like State Farm.

  • Town Hall/Roundtable (10.30-11.30): Issues of Minority Contractors (Registration required)
  • Access Florida Finance Corporation Announcement (11.45-12.30). Dr Robinson will be on hand during this session to discuss some of the emergent issues in minority entrepreneurship and his upcoming conference presentation in San Antonio (ASBE)
  • Weatherization opportunities/overview for contractors in Northeast Florida          (1-2pm) with Charles Baker.

(Event 1a/Room) World Cafe . World Cafe on Entrepreneurship sponsored by Sam's Club (Facilitated by Brian McElyea and Dr Robinson) This event is filled.

(Event 2a & 2b) Cultural Economics (Mr. Eugene Franklin/CEO Florida Black Chamber)

2a: 1pm-3pm. The Florida Black Chamber and friends will present to interested participants:

  • How cultural artist can make money and add value to their local community.
  • Cultural artist Sonja Evans(Pensacola) will be on hand as an example of Gene's perspective
  • How your family reunion, local event, associations can turn into cash for you

    2b: 11am-12p. The impact of multicultural tourism (Ms Lillian Spencer of Visit Florida, the states official source for travel planning) This event is open up to 150 seats.

    (Event 1: 9am-10am) Branding yourself for a new career path: Employment or Entrepreneurship (Ms. Tanya Stewart) This event is open up to 400 seats.

    (Event 2: 10.30-11.30) Proven strategies for marketing your business (Felicia Wright /Sylvester Thomas/Dr. Robert Spooney) This event is open up to 400 seats.

    (Event 3: 11.45pm-12.45pm) Managing a non-profit organization (Dr. Augustine Enofe, CPA)

    • Understand the legal aspects of a 501 (c) (3)
    • How to control your finances
    • Create a foundation which helps you minimize your tax
    • Selecting effective and dynamic board members to help you grow your organization

    (Event 4: 1pm-2.30pm) Building additional/new income through network marketing (This event is open up to 400 seats).  If you are considering new ways to add to your current income or develop income during economic hardship, you need to hear from those who have succeeded in doing just that. Panelists include: Kim McKissick of Mary Kay; Lex Gray of Buzzirk Mobil; Nate Scott of World Ventures.
