Native Clays and Native Cultures: Making Pottery with Indigenous Techniques (Members)

Learn to make pottery from the native clays of the John Day Basin using techniques of native peoples. Archeologist Skip Miller, an expert potter using local clays and Native American techniques, including firing pots without an electric kiln, will teach these ancient methods of pottery. Collect your own clays, learn their geologic origins. Then, produce your own pottery and take it home in this workshop. Workshop begins Friday at 3 PM. Cost includes all materials you’ll need. $ 75.
