Test Event

Where are all the British engineers? The number of engineering students has continued to fall year on year, down a third since 1998. Electrical engineering has undergone a 45 per cent decline in numbers since 2001, and 60 per cent of those finding employment outside the industry. Extinction awaits.

The result? Employers can't find recruits. Manufacturers are shutting down plants and outsourcing to the Far East to cope, exports are slumping and the pound is tumbling in value.

But wait! Call off the funeral, because Britain's engineering industry is fighting back. Hear the industry's leading figures debate how we can resurrect what was once the greatest manufacturing nation on earth.
