Building Livable Communities along the SMART Corridor

Registration and Continental Breakfast 7:30 – 8:00 am

Program 8:00 am – 12:15 pm

The Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy will hold its fifth Smart Growth Symposium titled Building Livable Communities along the SMART Corridor this October in Petaluma.  The launch of the SMART train service in 2014 will create a new market incentive for city centered development around rail stations along the SMART corridor.  This form of development, often referred to as Transit Oriented Development (TOD), has demonstrated economic, environmental and community benefits when done well.  From an economic perspective, having an alternative to the freeway will help retain and attract employees, reduce commute costs, and make the North Bay a more attractive place for businesses to locate.

Join business, community and government leaders from across the North Bay for an engaging and informative symposium on what it will take to attract new businesses and build thriving communities along the SMART corridor.
