Volunteers Needed for LACU at Kidapalooza

The Latin American Cultural Union will be participating in the annual Kidapalooza celebration taking place on Saturday March 1st from 10:00 am to 7:00pm at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

LACU will be showcasing the children activities we present at our Sábado Latino Infantil at the Fiesta section - a Latino activity center presented by Moe9s Restaurant where kids will be able to taste authentic Mexican food and participate in various Latino arts and crafts.

We are looking for volunteers to help us.

We need 6 people per each shift:

1 Greeter

2 Volunteers to help kids build plastic shakers

2 Volunteers to help kids build "Ojos de Dios"

1 Volunteer to help kids learn how to say various colors in Spanish

Shift Hours:

Shift 1: 9:30AM to 1:00PM

Shift 2: 1:00PM to 4:30PM

Shift 3: 4:30PM to  7:30PM (This shift includes 1 hour of clean-up.)

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Volunteers must arrive at the booth 15 minutes before their shift starts.
  • You can sign-up for more than 1 shift.
  • Please note that all volunteers will need a badge to enter the convention center.  If you have signed-up but not received your badge by Friday the 29th, please call Marisol Wandiga at 412-445-7013.
  • Volunteers are encouraged to dress in authentic folkloric costumes.  (Contact Marisol if you will need to borrow clothes from LACU9s costume stock.)
  • Volunteers who cannot stand for long hours can volunteer as greeters.  Chairs will be provided.

Our participation in the Kidapalooza celebration is an awesome opportunity for LACU to share who we are with over 8,000 Pittsburgh families.  We hope you will be able to help us by volunteering a couple of hours.
