8:30 – 9:30 am            Distribution of Assets and Debt and Issues related to bankruptcy               

This session will provide information about the law and practice regarding the distribution of assets and debt in divorce cases.  Case law as well as statutory law will be examined to help participants understand this aspect of family law.     This session will also discuss the interplay of bankruptcy in divorce cases.

9:45 – 10:45 am          Protective Orders                               

This session will provide an introduction to orders of protection including statutory requirements, relief available, petitioning and hearings.  There will also be a discussion of the interplay of protective orders and divorce proceedings.

11:00 – 12:00 pm        Support and Maintenance

This session will discuss issues related child support in family law cases as well as when spousal maintenance may be a remedy in Indiana.

12:30 – 1:30 pm          Ethical issues in family law                

This session will discuss the unique ethical considerations encountered during the representation of family law clients.  The speaker will discuss the Rules of Ethics in light of unique family law issues.

This session will discuss issues related to custody of the children, jurisdiction and law related to relocation with children of a divorce.

2:45 – 3:45 pm            Issues in family lawQ & A

The panel will be presented with legal case studies and will be asked to respond on how they would resolve the legal issue at hand.  In addition, this panel of experienced family law attorneys will answer participants’ questions about legal issues that participants may have faced when dealing with family law cases.
