October Lunch Program - Fall Requirements Management Series Event #2

"Visualization of Requirements: Taking Application Definition to the Next Level"

By Matt Smith from iRise

Matt Smith

"It's not what I want."
"It's not what I asked for."
"I've changed my mind."
How many times have you heard these comments from stakeholders once they get their hands on a new application?  How many times have you rolled your eyes, knowing you did all the right things? You modeled the business process, modeled the uses cases, documented the requirements, built your wireframes and got sign off from the business.  So why, then, does confusion reign?
Traditional business modeling techniques such as BPM and Use Cases have their place in the SDLC.  But they are not enough when it comes to defining requirements for end-user applications, because users don't know what they want until they can see something, and interact with it.  You simply can't get to that level of immersion in the requirements with traditional techniques.
Join us for a practical look at how simulating requirements takes the level of clarity and understanding far beyond BPM and Use Cases, and provide a perfect compliment to these valuable activities.

Originally from the UK, now living in New York City, Matt Smith is in his fifth year at iRise and is a Senior Manager on the Enterprise Solutions team. As part of this team, Matt is responsible for helping prospects in a pre-sales capacity reach an understanding of how iRise can fit into their organization and add value. He is also focused on working with existing clients to ensure they are successful in their usage of the solution.

Prior to joining iRise, Matt spent 5 years as an Enterprise Architecture Consultant with Popkin Software and 2 years at the Ordnance Survey, Britain's national mapping agency, where he was responsible for the adoption of CASE Tools and lead their Enterprise Architecture Discovery Process.
