Hoosier PRSA June Luncheon: What the heck are newspapers?

What the heck are newspapers?

Many people are beginning to wonder if the newspaper industry is dying.
The Rocky Mountain News in Denver was the first major newspaper to cease publication after 149 years.  According to Bloomberg News, “The companies that own the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Minneapolis Star-Tribune and Philadelphia Daily News have all filed for bankruptcy. Newspapers that aren’t closing their doors are making steep budget cuts.” What’s next?

Ruth Holladay, a journalist for 37 years and former Indianapolis Star
columnist, will present What the heck are newspapers? at the Hoosier PRSA luncheon on June 10.

Holladay will share her opinions about the changes in the newspaper
industry and help us understand how to adjust our efforts to reach the daily and weekly purveyors of news
