Spring Historic Homes Tour and Tea -- May 4, 2008

Update: Advance admission sales have ended, but you can still attend.  Simply pay the same-day admission rate of $20/person at any of the houses (below).  This covers admission to all of the homes and the Spring Tea.

Get a rare look inside some of the area's most interesting and treasured homes with the Marlborough Historical Society's Spring Historic Homes Tour and Tea.  Proceeds benefit historic preservation in Marlborough.

The six homes (pictures and address below) cover more than 300 years of history and all will be open for this self-guided tour from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 4.  You'll find beautiful original woodwork and cabinetry, leaded glass windows, quartersawn oak floors in an elegant living room and 20" wide pine floors in a second floor bedroom, ornate light fixtures and moderne fans, antiques as well as contemporary furnishings, and even purple glass door knobs.

Throughout the day the Society will be serving a Spring Tea, including coffee, tea, juice, and desert, at the Peter Rice Homestead and giving tours of the museum on the second floor.

Admission is $15 in advance and $20 the day of the tour.  This covers all of the houses and the tea.

Important: This is not an annual event.  It's been several years since the last tour in Marlborough, and at least three of these homes have never been open to the public.

So, use the list of the homes below to plan your day, visiting the homes and attending the Tea in whatever order you wish.

We'll look forward to seeing you for this rare look inside these outstanding historic New England homes, and to you joining us for our relaxing Spring Tea at the Peter Rice Homestead.
