How to Green Your Existing Home

HERS Index

Creating a plan to make your home more energy efficient and improve the indoor air quality by using diagnostic tests.

David Slater will explain the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) and discuss typical cost effective measures that will increase an existing home's energy efficiency and improve the indoor air quality.

Why is this an important topic?

Residential dwellings consume roughly one third of all the energy consumed in the US. One half of the energy used by homes is for heating and cooling.

Improving a home's efficiency has multiple benefits:

  • Lower monthly operating costs
  • Increased comfort
  • Reduced consumer consumption leads to lower power generation needs
  • It is also usually connected to improved indoor air quality
  • Lower carbon footprint for you!

David Slater founded Stream Residential with a passion to help Triangle homeowners enjoy healthy, comfortable and energy efficient homes along with 15 years of leadership and management experience.

Stream Residential uniquely combines the best from the heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) industry, the energy and building science industry, and the indoor air quality industry together into one business designed to partner with homeowners, builders, and home buyers to improve indoor living.
