Overview: Weatherization training is designed to meet the education needs of industry professionals working to retrofit existing building stock. It focuses on the “low hanging fruit” of energy conservation measures; sealing, caulking, weather stripping, hot water pipe insulation and other fundamental retrofit measures. These techniques are necessary to weatherize over 90% of the housing stock in the DC metro area.

The two-day training will have hands on field experience and training followed from a course covering the following:

Introduction to how buildings work
• Introduction to mold
• Caulking and sealing the exterior
• Weather stripping doors and windows
• Foaming and caulking envelope penetrations

Basement sealing inspection
• Water heater inspection/jackets
• Insulate pipes
• Seal & Insulate Ducts
• Install Under floor Insulation
• Install Interior Foundation Insulation

Attic sealing inspection
• Prepare Attics for Insulation
• Install Loose Fill Attic Insulation
• Install Blown-In Wall Insulation

September 14th - Class Training at Gensler, 2020 K St NW, 8:30am - 5pm

September 15th - Field Training at 1224 Lawrence St., NE, 8:30am - 5pm
