What is The Art & Business of Grant Writing?  An educational forum inviting you to partake in an interactive hands-on discussion which stems from years of philanthropic observation and a three-year study of the Atlanta and Georgia funding community.  This motivational session will assist in your efforts to write a grant, and connect you with the "business" of grant writing known as the field of, "development" or  "fund development" which is ironically overlooked in the average grant writing workshop.

  • Have you ever wondered what is the history of grant making?  Who controls the purse strings?  Why are some organizations and individuals more likely to get funding than others?  Is it really just about the writing?
  • Would you like to know what grant writing "blunders" to avoid?
  • Learn how not to get overcharged for grant writing services by the "experts?
  • Are you just curious about what grants are? Perhaps you would like to become a freelance grant writer?
  • Develop basic fundraising knowlege and skills by reviewing a checklist to see if you are ready to submit your grant proposal, and if not, how to prepare yourself.
  • Learn the difference between grants for individuals, nonprofits and small businesses and see where your important work fits in.
  • Participate in our highly successful and comfortable break-out groups and Q&A Session.

If you have a sample proposal already written, or an application for a grant request, feel free to bring it with you.

Who would benefit tremendously from this Session? Nonprofit employees, small business owners, minority owned business owners, realtors, promoters, faith-based organizations, community coalitions and individuals with an interest in helping their community.
