Panel Discussion - Genetics & Biotechnology

The field of Genetics has advanced so much in the past few decades. From the very simplistic experiments of Mendel, we have developed a science whose promises seem endless...

...however, nothing is perfect! The field of genetics - the science itself, its practices and applications - has its fair share of critics which touch on various problems within the social and ethical realms, and even with the science itself.

Is there a balance between the science, and the criticisms it faces? Do the benefits outweigh the potential hazards?

The Delta Biotech Society presents a panel discussion that hopes to answer some of these questions, or at least give perspective and insight on where we can find the answers...

The Panelists:

  1. Dr. Klaus Fiebig - Chief Scientific Officer & Vice President, Research Programs @ the Ontario Genomics Institute
  2. Dr. Richard Wintle - Assistant Director at Sick Kids9 Centre for Applied Genomics
  3. Dr. Roderick McInnes - Physician at Sick Kids9 and Scientific Director at the Canadian Institute of Genetics
