Meet a Dynamic Developer

The Young Real Estate Professionals pleased to welcome Mr. Robert Bronstein, to speak at our next speaker luncheon on Tuesday, June 27, 2006.

At the age of 30, Mr. Bronstein was named by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of its “40 Under 40” rising stars in the Chicago business world. He is President of The Scion Group, a real estate consulting, development and management firm focused on high-end and urban student housing.

In its six year history, Scion has worked on nearly 50 college and university campuses in the United States and Mexico, comprising tens of thousands of beds of student housing consulting and/or development experience. Including properties under construction, Scion will be managing, either individually or as part of a larger management team, approximately 4,100 beds of student housing by Summer 2007, with an additional prospective 2,000 beds in various stages of planning or development.

He is currently an equity partner in various student housing projects with an aggregate value exceeding $225 million.

Mr. Bronstein is recognized as an expert in the financial and operational analysis of educational housing and auxiliary facilities, and is often asked to lecture and participate in roundtable discussions regarding housing financing and ownership at national housing, business or facility planning conferences. He has consulted with nationally prominent real estate and financial firms on student housingrelated issues.

Prior to founding Scion, Mr. Bronstein was Vice President at Equis Corp., a Chicago based real estate brokerage and consulting firm. At Equis, he consulted for numerous corporations or real estate-related issues, including Ameritech, United HealthCare, Nike and MCI, as well as for the General Services Administration of the United States government.

He is a founding member of the Real Estate Center at DePaul University, which grants BBA and MBA degrees with a concentration in real estate. He also volunteers with several organizations dedicated to urban revitalization, including serving for over five years as a member of the loan committee of the non-profit Chicago Community Loan Fund.
