2007 Oklahoma Correctional Association Conference

The Oklahoma Correctional Association Conference scheduled for October 17-19, 2007, has something for everyone!  In keeping with Oklahoma’s Centennial celebrations, this year’s theme is Brand New State . . . Gonna Treat You Great . . . The Next 100 Years! 

The conference features four workshop tracks:  (1)  Adult Corrections, (2) Juvenile Corrections, (3)  Treatment and Rehabilitative Services, (4)  Human Resources and Career Development  

The conference kicks off on Wednesday with the Opening Session which features keynote speaker, Dr. Vincent Orza.   

Other highlights include an intensive workshop offered by the Office of State Finance on Financial Best Practicesa must for all business and accounting professionals.  Participants may also choose an intensive workshop on the Prisoner Rape Elimination Act or a workshop on the American Correctional Association Accreditation Process.   

Other workshop topics include:  Evidence-Based Practices, Terrorism in the Prison Setting, Faith and Character in Oklahoma Prisons, Youth Level of Service Case Management, Female Offenders, Volunteerism, Juvenile Justice System, Mental Health Issues, Reentry and Wrap Around Services, Motivational Interviewing, Humor in the Workplace--just to name a few!   

On Thursday afternoon, there will be a special legislative panel discussion.  Attendees may also choose to tour the Oklahoma County Juvenile Bureau on Friday as well as attend the awards luncheon where scholarships and the association’s achievement award will be presented.     

Evening dinners with special entertainment, hospitality, and an opportunity to network with other criminal justice professionals . . . this conference has something for everyone!
